The new JP221 clarinet has been completely redesigned from the ground up. The JP221 is made from ABS, but has an appearance very similar to that of genuine grenadilla wood and has a rich dark sound to encourage the less experienced player. This model is lightweight, strong and easy to clean – perfect for even very young players. Visually it is very attractive with smart contemporary design, silverplated body rings, neat keywork and a graceful bell curve uncluttered by the normal (unnecessary) ring. State of the art engineering has been employed in manufacture. The tone holes are all CNC cut and the tuning scale is very accurate. The silverplated keywork is very strong and precise so it feels good under the fingers and will be reliable for years to come. This clarinet is mounted with double fish skin pads which ensure excellent sealing and longevity. To maximise comfort, it is equipped as standard with an adjustable thumb rest for correct and comfortable positioning (and a neck strap ring in case a sling is required). The JP221 is supplied with everything that is needed to get a new player started. The instrument is supplied with a JP mouthpiece, lightweight case and starter accessory pack including mouthpiece cap, ligature and JP reed. The case is well designed to be robust yet lightweight and to provide as much protection to your instrument as possible. Widely used in schools and recommended by teachers, the JP121 MKIV has a range of applications as a school instrument. Its high level of durability and reliable mechanism ensures that it stands up well against the knocks and falls that are part and parcel of student instruments. The JP121 MKIV comes recommended by John Franchi, a well known London session musician who played the JP121 MKIV during the 2007 Royal Variety performance. The JP121 MKIV Bb Clarinet is constructed from a lightweight ABS resin body. This complex material is very lightweight and strong however still boasts a high level of resonance. An adjustable thumb rest is also included for comfort to help younger players ‘grow’ with the instrument. This higher specification student clarinet has a strong, silver plated keywork mechanism and a highly accurate tuning scale.
