The basses are warm sounding copper wound and are common to both, with Red basses being lighter in tension than Blue. This system allows you to choose the combination that is right for your instrument, from Classic Red to Regal Blue. The Augustine Black Basses are Augustne's lightest copper wound strings. This set has black basses and Classic Trebles – a light gauge treble string. These are the original Augustine guitar strings, an intrinsic part of the classical guitar evolution this century. Albert Augustine, an instrument maker, found himself pressured by none other than Andres Segovia to manufacture and sell nylon guitar strings. He did so,insuring the rise of a new generation of concert players and lending his own part to the cultivation and completion of the famous Segovia Sound.
